Boys Indoor Club Teams

Our Boys Indoor Club Teams are designed for advanced high school and middle school players with prior volleyball experience.

  • Team Roster: 10–11 travel players selected based on tryout performance.

  • Practice Schedule: 2–3 practices per week (September/October through February/early-March).

  • Regional Tournaments: Single-day events within a 2.5-hour drive.

  • Multi-Day Tournaments: Multi-day events within a 3.5-hour drive that typically require hotel lodging.

  • Parent Commitment: Travel team parents are expected to provide transportation to and from at least 2–3 tournaments.

  • Program Fee Coverage: Covers coaching instruction, uniforms, USAV/AAU memberships, and all tournament entry fees.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attendance at all practices and tournaments is mandatory. If a player must miss a scheduled event, they must notify their head coach in writing prior to the event.

  • Academic Expectations: Academics take top priority, but homework and studying are not acceptable reasons for missing team events. Players are expected to manage their time effectively—including working ahead on weekends and bringing schoolwork to tournaments—to ensure all assignments are completed before practice.

  • Academic Support: If a player is struggling with time management, they should reach out to their coach immediately to develop a structured academic plan. Grades must remain a priority throughout the season.

  • Impact on Playing Time: Unexcused or repeated absences will result in reduced practice and tournament playing time.

  • Tournament Dismissal: Travel team players are required to complete all assigned duties before being dismissed at the end of a tournament.

  • Multi-Sport Athletes: We strongly encourage multi-sport participation, as competing in diverse sports builds athletic skills, prevents burnout, and develops leadership. While volleyball requires a serious commitment, our coaching staff works proactively with multi-sport athletes to manage schedules, balance training loads, and resolve conflicts whenever possible.

PROGRAM FEES

Full program fee payments are due as requested by the program director or upon receiving your payment schedule. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS. No player will be turned away due to an inability to pay. However, every participant is expected to participate in fundraising to help offset program costs.

  • Payment Methods: Zelle, checks payable to "Philadelphia Starlings VBC", and cash are accepted.

  • Financial Assistance: Alternative arrangements or payment extensions can be requested prior to the start of the season.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

All participants are required to complete their Broad Street Run community service. With 40,000 runners registering annually, our group will support the event by managing a designated water station and staffing the runners’ expo.

  • Mandatory Compliance: Completing this service is required to maintain good standing. Failure to fulfill this commitment will render you ineligible for all future programs.

  • Make-Up Options: If you cannot attend the primary service event, alternative make-up opportunities are available upon request. Please contact the program coordinator to arrange an alternative.
